LaFollette Custom Homes, founder, Steve Eyke, graduated from Michigan State University in 1984 with a degree in Building Construction Management. He gained experience in Maryland and Virginia, with national production builders Pulte Homes and Ryland Homes. There, he learned how to handle large scale projects while maintaining strict budgets.

When Steve returned to Michigan in 1991, he founded LaFollette Custom Homes and practiced the craft of carpentry with hands-on projects of various sizes. He still continues to educate himself on the character of the homes where he has lived, worked and traveled. These experiences have made him understand the “regional” nature of architectural styles based on trends and the use of locally available natural materials. Steve specializes in creating period construction details born out of authentic examples.
